Western New York Amusement Parks

More Than a Century of Western New York Amusement Park History

For more than a century, Western New Yorkers have gathered at amusement parks built along trolley lines, steamship routes, and growing communities. Early resorts such as Celoron Park and Crystal Beach Park helped establish a regional summer tradition.

Later generations made their own memories at Glen Park, Fantasy Island, and Darien Lake. Across each era, Western New York became home to notable parks, family attractions, and roller coasters that drew visitors from across the region.

From the Cyclone and Silver Comet to the Ride of Steel, the region’s coasters became part of its identity. Western New York Amusement Parks documents how these destinations changed while the tradition of a local park day continued.
